Detroit Realities #803

Detroit Police just arrested 34-year-old Deangelo Martin near 7 Mile and Gratiot. He is suspected of being a serial rapist and serial murderer. The bodies of 3 women were discovered in vacant houses on Detroit’s east side, all had been raped and stabbed. Police suspect they were all prostitutes.

The Detroit Airport bribery trial is ongoing, with testimony of the threats, bribes, and kickbacks of over $10 million to James Warner, the former airport inspector. Some of the bribes were paid by contractor Gary Tenaglia, who owns a $6 million French-country manor with a helipad in Oakland County. The home has 2 pools, terraced patios and gardens – and is currently for sale. Rumors about Tenaglia scams go back 25 years and he may get 3 years in prison.

A Wayne County District Court Judge, Tracy Green, covered up evidence that her 11-year-old grandson was being beaten by her son, Gary Davis-Headd. Let’s see: she didn’t recuse herself and hid evidence – was she arrested or at least fired and disbarred? Nope – just “re-assigned”

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A drug deal turned into a double shooting at the Capital Liquor Store in Schaefer, a man died and a woman is in temporary serious condition. Witnesses say the shooters were two 18-year-olds.
  • Detroiter Herman Gilstrap was just arrested for the 2016 murder of Linda Lee Jackson, who he is accused of stabbing to death. Gilstrap will likely be charged with the murder this week of Lorenda Cruell, whose body was found burned at a vacant Detroit home near 7 Mile Road.
  • U.S. Marshalls are searching for Juan Resendiz in Detroit. Resendiz is a child sex predator who manipulates and brain washes young girls that he can access.
  • A 24-year-old was shot in the leg at a candlelight vigil for the death of a shooting victim (this seems to happen at least 5 times  a year!)
  • In Greektown, two people were shot, one fatally Sunday night.
  • The Feds are investigating whether contaminated soil was used to fill-in Detroit’s demolished homes.
  • 33-year-old Tiffany Reed was charged with 1st degree murder when she asked a man to step outside of his home and she stabbed him to death.
  • A 45-year-old woman’s body was discovered in a vacant home by 7 Mile Rd. and Chrysler Drive, the homicide unit is investigating.
  • What were you doing on Memorial Day? Ronnie Bird Jr was visiting a relative by W. Grand Blvd, got into an argument with his brother-in-law, and fatally shot him.
