Detroit Realities #801

Crime Update: Back in 2016, an undercover Police Officer working stolen cars spotted a brand new pickup truck in the middle of a swath of empty and overgrown lots near Detroit City Airport. The officer thought it may be a dumped stolen car so he approaches the car and a man gets out, claims he ran out of gas, and flashes a badge saying he works in fugitive recovery. The real officer doesn’t buy it and then spots a woman in the pickup truck with her hands duct taped together. He goes to her and sees that she has been beaten, shot in each leg, and her hands and ankles have been bound by duct tape. The man was arrested and she survived her injuries. It turns out, the woman was 32-year-old Natalia Muntean and the man was her ex-husband. He had already disposed of her personal belongings in another vacant lot moments before he was captured; everyone suspects he was about to execute her and leave her body in the field with tall grass (dead bodies found in this neighborhood is common).

So what happened?

The usual lenient Detroit judge set the bail for this kidnapper and torturer, who was just about to commit 1st degree murder, at just $100,000 or $10,000 bond! Once convicted, the judge did NOT sentence him to life in prison without the possibility of parole – instead he was sentenced to just 20-40 years. With time served, he could be dumping more dead bodies in Detroit again in a mere 17 years.

Alicia Jones was shocked to see this week that the woman who attacked her with a 7” knife recently is running for Mayor of Highland Park. The Mayoral Candidate she’s referring to, Elene Robinson, has an upcoming trial for that assault next month for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery. Jones claims Robinson became irate when Robinson wasn’t selected for a position with a new NAACP chapter. Robinson grabbed a large knife and lunged at Jones, saying, “B****, I’ll Kill You” before slapping Jones. Robinson has a prior felony conviction.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • In a double-shooting, two young men were rushed to the hospital from Mack Ave. and E. Outer Drive.
  • A bus driver in Detroit was cut by a passenger that became upset with him, the suspect was quickly captured. No details on the drivers injuries are available now.
  • A 28-year-old Detroiter with a gunshot wound drove herself to an east-side hospital in a bullet-hole riddled car.
  • 22-year-old Deantree Oneal was charged with a slew of counts from injuring 3 Detroit Police officers, two with his car and one from firing shots at him. Oneal is a former convict that was pulled over another woman.
  • Highland Park Police are searching for 60-year-old Cynthia Littleton. They claim she is a conwoman who schemes her way into buildings or apartments and then steals what she can before leaving. She also sells fraudulent Kroger food baskets.
  • An 18-year-old Detroiter was shot and killed for his Cartier glasses at a gas station on 7 Mile Road by E. Outer Drive. Police are searching for the suspect’s vehicle.
  • A dog got loose in Detroit on Schoolcraft when it attacked a second dog. The second dog’s owner shot the attacking dog, killing it. But he also accidentally shot the attacking dog’s owner who is listed in stable condition.
  • Detroit Police are investigating a woman’s body found in a vacant lot on E. Canfield, no further information is available.
