36-year-old Daniel Chapman, a Detroit native, served 2 tours of duty in Iraq. After leaving the military, the disabled veteran (from back injuries), who was living in New York, decided to return to Detroit to be around family. He now regrets that decision because he was just carjacked on Memorial Day no less!! Chapman says he was at a Green Light store when he was robbed and carjacked. He immediately called 911 and 3 cruisers were looking for his car but never found it (Project Green Light fails again…). Chapman says his car was stolen a couple years ago in front of his house and Detroit reminds him of the war zone that he thought he left behind. In a $5 million bribery scandal, Detroit Metro Airport, 52-year-old manager James Warner is facing trial for kickbacks and obstruction of justice. Warner is accused of fabricating invoices and overcharging contractors for airport repairs. Over a 4-year period, Warner pocketed over $5 million. Prosecutors have secret recordings, bank records, and other conspirators turning state’s evidence – but Warner thinks he can win with a trial. Excellent choice Mr. Warner, because the last 2 Detroit officials that fought bribery charges got 20 years!
A 75-year-old man was killed at a Detroit motorcycle club with his bike on fire behind the building. Nothing suspicious about that at all. If this death is ruled a homicide, it would be the 12th murder in the neighborhood this year (Greenfield/Grand River).
Another day, another triple shooting! Three men walking out of a store on Detroit’s Winthrop St. near W. Grand River were all shot by the driver of a car that had just pulled up. All three are listed in temporary-serious condition.

- The Detroit Humane Society is investigating the death of a German Shepard on the east side of Detroit. It had been hung by a fence and then shot several times.
- A 31-year-old Detroiter was sentenced to 5-12 years in prison for causing a DUI car accident that killed a retired police officer. The officer was dragged before the suspect fled the scene.
- An argument at W. McNichols and W. Grand River turned into a shooting. The victim was shot twice with non-life threatening injuries.
- A landlord and worker were refurbishing a Dearborn rental when gunshots were fired through the front window, hitting the landlord and glass hit the helper. Police say many home were shot up as well, but those homeowners refused to cooperate with the police.
- 4 people were arrested in Canton for a $2 million financial fraud and money laundering case, no other information is being released by the FBI yet.
- A Detroit teenager was walking to school when a man exposed himself and asked if he wanted to fool around with him in his car. He called 911 and they used his GPS to arrest the man on the spot. He was charged with Felony Firearm and Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct.
- Two young men sitting in a car in Detroit were both shot in a drive-by shooting, the 18-year-old died and the 22-year-old survived. They were attacked near Morang Ave. and Kelly Rd.
- Two Detroiters may survive their shooting wounds. They were filming a video on Edgewood near Van Dyke when someone started shooting at them for an unknown reason.
- 58-year-old Maurice Postell’s body was found in the front lawn of a Detroit home on Meyers. The killer was an ex-convict and was arrested for 1st Degree Murder.
- Unrelated to last week’s big sex trafficking bust, another group of 5 were arrested for running a house of prostitution and illegal drugs. The home is in Warren just north of Detroit.
