Detroit Realities #798

A sting on a sex-trafficking ring in Warren netted 35 arrests, half of which were women. The arrests resulted from a house of prostitution where authorities also seized cocaine, heroin, and crack cocaine, and more illegal drugs.

What were you doing at age 17? If you’re like Detroiter Mario Jackson, you’d have worked your way onto the U.S. Marshalls Most Wanted list. He has been arrested before and is now wanted for breaking into schools and retail establishments.

Detroit Police pulled a car over driving the wrong way and speeding. Once 2 officers were behind him, he put the car in reverse and pinned them against their police cruiser. The suspect then fled on foot, shooting yet another police officer before being apprehended. All 3 officers are in stable condition.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • Two Detroiters were charged with: 3 counts of armed robbery, carjackings, property theft, and 8 counts of felony firearms.
  • Dearborn Police captured 2 foreign nationals that are part of a larger identity theft/credit card skimming ring. They were caught with 300 stolen credit cards and $40,000 in cash.
  • Detroit Police spotted a 53-year-old man enter a building, leave it, and then smoke began emanating from the building. He was arrested under suspicion of arson.
  • Two Detroiters were shot while sitting on a couch inside a home at 7 Mile and Van Dyke. Both survived but would not co-operative with police.
  • In the last 7 days, four young women have been murdered on the east side of Detroit
  • A couple in Macomb kept a mentally disabled woman in their shed next to their trailer. They advertised online to sell her for sex and were sentenced to 5-20 years.
  • At Starters Bar & Grill on Woodward, a family of 8 skipped out on their $100 bill in midtown. The owner says there is a lot of Dine & Dash in midtown.
  • A man waiting at a Detroit bus stop was shot in the thigh when two vehicle drove by with passengers shooting at each other. The crossfire was at Harper and Van Dyke Ave.
  • Orkin Pest Control issued their annual survey on mosquitos, and Detroit ranked 7th Worst in the nation.
  • A 23-year old answered a knock on the door of his home, only to be immediately shot and died shortly thereafter; near Detroit’s Tiremen and Hubble Ave.
  • A woman was fatally shot by 2 suspects at a Detroit gas station, even though it has Project Green Light surveillance.
  • A 50-year-old man was arrested for the homicide of a Detroit woman whose body was thrown into an apartment dumpster. Police Chief Craig described the man as, “a career criminal.”
  • Human remains were found in Dearborn by I-94 from train workers near woods.
