The 57th Autorama car show at Cobo Hall includes a “Smokey and the Bandit” replica Firebird Trans Am and a “Duke’s of Hazzard” Dodge Charger, both sport a confederate flag. Prompting Detroit City Council member Scott Benson, along with 7 others, voted to “express their disapproval.”

Two men and woman were arrested in River Rouge for peddling dogs stolen from animal shelters in Louisiana. They were also charged with animal abuse – the 17 dogs were emaciated and held in a box truck that was 100 degrees and filthy condition. 

Each year, 20% of renters in Detroit face eviction from landlords. In response, 20 organizations are getting together to create a program to educate tenants about their rights and leveling the playing field against landlords. Landlords say legal aid just causes delays and repair problems don’t frequently occur.

The Macomb County Prosecutor, Eric Smith, is getting audited because he has been managing the county Forfeiture Funds for years – with no oversight. It is supposed to be used for law enforcement, but instead it is going to athletic events, retirement parties, expensive dinners, and other luxuries.

Detroit’s tow companies are such a scam that the Detroit Police is starting their own fleet of tow trucks that will be accountable to the residents. If a private tow company acts improperly all you can do is go to small claims court

More criminal charges for Nathanial Abraham… In 1997, he became the youngest Michigander charged with murder at age 11. He was released from Juvenile Detention in 2007 at age 21, due to the rave reviews from social workers. A year later, he was caught selling illegal drugs out of his trunk. While back in prison, he assaulted two guards for more time and he was released from parole in 2018. Abraham was then charged with indecent exposure and resisted arrest when Police attempted to arrest him for missing a court date. Now 33 years old, Abraham was arrested yet again in a sting on Friday for selling meth and could get 20 years in prison.  

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • FBI agents rescued a 15-year-old girl at a Detroit bus station that was either kidnapped or a runaway with a 25-year-old man she met online, Zachary Worley of Texas. Worley was arrested for child pornography, enticing a minor, and providing her LSD.
  • Just west of Detroit in Taylor, FBI agents raided the home of the mayor, Rick Sollars, and Taylor City Hall in a corruption investigation. Taylor Police were caught stealing vehicle inspection fees, one of whom accused the mayor of awarded exclusive towing contracts for bribes.   
  • U.S. Marshalls are looking for 44-year-old Detroiter, Gregory Boykins. He has a criminal convictions for armed robbery, assaulting police, and criminal sexual conduct. He is supposed to register as a sex offender but he cut his tether and fled. U.S. Marshalls believe his family is financially supporting him and helping him hide from authorities.
  • 28-year-old Detroiter Cameron White was arrest a couple days ago for posting online that he was, “planning a mass shooting real soon”
  • A 23-year-old woman was charged when, driving drunk, she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a Detroit home at Moross and Kelly. Her passenger passed away from his injuries.
  • Two Detroiters were arrested by the FBI for a jewelry-store Smash & Grab in northwestern Indiana, about $800,000 worth of jewelry was stolen.
  • Former Detroit Land Bank spokesman, Craig Fahle was sentenced to just probation for driving drunk and possession of cocaine. Anyone else would have gotten 3 years in prison!
  • A 27-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in a robbery at 8pm by Schoolcraft in Detroit.
  • Aretha Franklin, who passed away in August, may have been ripped off just before her death. A $178,000 check of hers was cashed and she filed a police complaint, but she passed away before they could investigate.
