The Detroit Public School System is being sued by a student where the assistant principal is caught on video throwing him out of the school and body slamming him to the pavement. Another security official came outside and punched him in the face. He had to eat from a stray for 6 weeks as his jaw healed. He only returned to the school after hours to get his wallet that he had forgotten. The security officer deleted the video portion where he punched him in the face.

Sadly, the iconic Boblo Boat has been burned to shell following a weld spark while it is being refurbished. Generations of Detroiters took the Boblo Boat to and from the Boblo Island Amusement Park for entertainment and rides; it closed in 1993. In 2016, a group purchased the Boblo Boat to fix it up and bring it back into service.

In putting out a vacant home fire today, Detroit Battalion Fire Chief, Michael Jefferson, says, “Vacant homes with no utilities just don’t burst into flames on their own. We’re called to this Detroit neighborhood 6-10 times a week, most of them are arson. Unfortunately, we rarely catch the arsonists unless there is a witness.” How many buildings are arsoned in your neighborhood per week?

When Detroit Animal Control was taking dogs from a man arrested for beating them, they discovered a cache of bones. They found barrels of bones – many appeared to be from dogs but some were the size of cows; police are investigating. Did I mention the dog owner was squatting in an abandoned home?

• Detroit fugitive, Willie Wright was accidentally released from jail in Indiana and U.S. Marshalls are trying to track down. He is also wanted for looting Detroit restaurants at night.
• Detroit fugitive, Brandon Harvey is a sexual predator with several victims going back to 2014. U.S. Marshals believe his family is helping remain a fugitive.
• A mother got into an argument with her 26-year-old son in Detroit. The physical fight resulted in a mirror being broken; the mother grabbed a large piece of glass and stabbed him in the chest. He’s in critical condition and she was arrested.
• Detroit Police are searching for a McDonald’s smash & grab thief that grabbed cash from the register before fleeing.
• A group robbed and beat a man unconscious at the downtown MGM Casino parking lot in Detroit, he’s in critical condition.
• A man was checking out his motorcycle on the side of I-75 near Detroit when a car struck him and fled. The man survived but is expected to require many surgeries.
