Finding an affordable place to live in the downtown area has been getting more difficult. That is only going to get worse as tax-incentives expire over the next 5-7 years. So Detroit is offering tax abatement incentives to lower rents in the downtown area. For example, the city is giving Milner Arms Apartments $450,000 in tax abatements for rehabbing the building. Detroit offers discounted land and subsidies to developers if they make 20% of units affordable housing. Really? The most important thing for a broke city, choking on crime and corruption, is to lower the rent in the tiny 2-square miles that are being gentrified?

Meanwhile, in Detroit’s sister-city Chicago, a candidate for Illinois Attorney General had several members of his campaign team for a photo shoot in a dangerous part of Chicago. They were approached by 3 armed men and mugged of their: personal belongings, phones, and camera equipment. Do you really want someone with such poor judgment as state Attorney General?

It has been, what, a few hours since there’s been a Detroit corruption investigation? Well, your wait is over! The FBI is targeting Detroit Councilman Gabe Leland (who dated the daughter of convicted bribester, Gasper Fiore. Even Detroit Police Chief Craig said, “I never felt comfortable with him so I always made sure there was a third person in my office if he was there.”
