Detroit Realities #606

Hey, let’s go for a drive in Detroit – what’s the worst that could happen! Wait, what? A 30-year-old was driving in Detroit when the car in front of him stopped. The driver got out, wearing a mask, and started firing shots before taking off. The innocent victim was shot in the thigh and is in temporary serious condition.

In Detroit North news (Pontiac), police are searching for a serial robber that held up 4 stores at gunpoint: Dollar General, Little Caesars, Thrifty Flowers, and a Subway.

Detroit’s parking tickets used to be $30 with a $10 discount for early payment. During bankruptcy, the city changed that to $45-$95 and no discount – to make millions for the broke city. Not so fast skippy – a new class-action lawsuit was filed that these rates are unconstitutional “excessive fines.”

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A woman near Detroit in Garden City had her father’s ashes in an urn in her car. She was in Inkster when someone broke into her car and stole everything she had in the car.
  • 32-year-old twins from Detroit, Garry and Terry Outsey, were charged with 43 felony counts for firing a dozen shots at a family at a gas station. Criminals couldn’t care less about Mayor Duggan’s greenlight surveillance camera system at gas stations.
  • Two people were shot on 7 Mile Rd, outside of a party. One victim did not survive, the shooter was wearing a black hoodie and police are searching for him.
