One Step Forward Two Steps Back

As I write this entry with a heavy Heart, I want to dedicate it to Sarah. A special someone that has shown me endless light and the meaning of eternal glory.

The human mind is the most resilient entity on this Earth. It allows you to experience all the hardships life throws at you and yet at the same time, to logically process your own emotions. The deep pain the heart can feel and the after effects of the depression it lays. Thoughts clouded foggy grey, and life left tasteless. That only comes with sudden loss, such as death, or saying goodbye. I recently had to say goodbye to someone I loved very much, knowing they were not destined to be in my life for this period of time. The motions are now hitting, and the sorrow endless. The question remains, how do we move Forward. How does one experience the extreme of circumstance and “fate”, if you will, and still find a way to move forward. I have not yet found the answer to this, but a coping mechanism always seems to be to put my belief in God. A higher entity that is only felt not seen, just like the pain of sorrow. Logically though, I am still searching for a way to explain why things happen and why we are so resilient. Should we just go numb and get used to experiencing such horrifying events, or make lemonade out of the stale lemons?

Lets first identify what it means to move forward. It is simply to accept, process, feel, and take action. The beauty of life is, it is so complex, that all these factors happen at once, not in any particular order, they just simultaneously coexist with each other. It is only once that you take initiative to forget that you can begin to heal. Yet what if the circumstance you are dealt with is so strong, and your spirit is left so weak, that taking action seems impossible to do. That’s when my favorite saying comes into play, fake it till you make it. Depression is a heavy feeling, it can either be short term or long term. It is the resiliency of each different mind that decides if it will break, or put its own pieces back together. It simply is, if you believe you can heal yourself, you will. This is irregardless of the support of family and friends,  which I cannot stress this enough, is crucially important. You MUST find a way to not break. Only those who do break, who don’t believe in themselves enough to move forward, will encounter long-term depression. I have been through it myself, and I have learned from it enough to know that life cannot be lived that way. The bland feeling in your mouth and the grey clouds around you will go, life will keep going no matter what. We are such beautiful creatures that we forget the beauty of our own minds. You MUST process and you MUST feel as much as you can in order to pick yourself up. If you let every circumstance you are dealt with break you, lead you into endless sorrow, then you are not appreciative of the beauty of your own mind. You are not using the tools that are built into your foundation. If a cat, an unaware being can lick it’s own wounds, why do we not trust our own resiliency? Why do we not believe in our selves enough to accept the such tragic circumstances, and fix our lives enough so that the pain heals, the wounds close, and the mind keeps thinking.

And so, my fellow humans, I challenge you in these hardships and sad times, to challenge your own resiliency. Answer the unanswered question of what it truly means to move forward, and the ways to heal the human heart. Trust yourself enough to know that you are strong enough to not break, for the sake of yourself and those around you. I promise, a light will find you in a foggy night, and soon you will look forward to new experiences, full of excitement, love, and prosperity. This is not the end.

Yours Truly – M
