1. Stay Away From Beautiful Creatures That Lead to Distraction
Beauty is a distraction and distraction is the primary cause of failures. This will not only result in academic failure but also road accidents and life failures. We know it is is difficult but that is why you have to practice the art of refraining. Teenagers are most affected by this type of distraction due to massive fluctuation in their Testosterone. It certainly does not mean neglecting any specific gender but to conquer the mind even when hormones are overpowering. One may also install parental control software on computer, practice meditation etc. to control the burning flame.
The purpose of studying is to understand maximum or all aspects of the content. A person who is demoralized can never do anything in life. So instead of considering yourself as a pitiful student just believe that you are a senior intelligence officer who has been assigned a task to solve mysteries that no other person can solve. This way you will feel motivated, focused and psychological moral will improve exponentially.
Don’t get confused because of Jargon in the books that are difficult to understand instead use your common sense and simplify the issue in your own simple words. Do keep this in mind that the author of book may be a smart guy but certainly not as smart as you are. Recently my wife handed over a bunch of documents of a disputed property to me. I am not a lawyer and have no such background but it was important for me to decode the substance. So what I did was I quickly simplified the most complicated legal documents by using my own common sense and Google search engine. Now I was able to understand most of the aspects of the legal matter and make better strategy to get out of the property dispute.
3. Make sure your eyesight is alright and eyes are protected if you study on laptop/ smartphone
If you study through eBooks on Computer/ Smartphones etc. then make sure do wear Protective Eyeglasses because electronic screen emits enormous amount of blue light. Wearing a nice pair of protective eyeglasses will prevent headache/ eyestrain etc. that eventually leads to sleepiness. There are few brands like Clearly, Lazada or Zebriana India etc. that can be opted as per your budget and choice. My suggestion is to prefer protective eyeglasses with amber lenses but non amber with blue blocking feature would also work fine. In case if you have astigmatism then it is very important to wear the glasses failing which may lead to longer processing time of the brain.
4. Agenda should be to hit the eye of fish not to win the Draupadi Swayamvar contest itself
Study because it is your present duty. Do not care about the marks you will obtain or not obtain after you are done with the study. Ask your father that how much percentage did he obtained in matriculation. I am confident that he won’t be able to give you the exact figure. Most important thing is to apply your best in your karma and not give much importance to its consequences. May be you will become a very rich person even if you could not crack the UPSC exams but do apply your efforts in such a way so that you could crack even 10 times tougher exam than the UPSC.
5. Pretend as a teacher and Teach the concept to others
This really works for most of the students. Studying and understanding is a psychological phenomenon. Sometimes it is funny but relevant to manipulate your own mind. An employee who does not put 100% in his work does brilliantly when he administers a dozens of employees under him. In the same manner a student may not be able to realize his full potential when he is just a student but may perform extra ordinarily well when the same mind conceives that he had to teach the concept to the masses.
