Space Trivia Duck, Duck, Goose

Kubla and I have been reading about the Solar System.  He’s in a space phase, soaking up astronomical trivia.

One day we’re on the beach, taking a break from swimming.

“What is the largest planet?” I ask.

“Jupiter!” he yells.

“Which one is the red planet?”

“Mars!”

“Name all the planets in order from the sun.”

A pause.

“Mercury….Venus? Earth….Jupiter…”

“Jupiter?!” I exclaim. “Are you crazy?”

I jump up and chase him around the beach.

“Name all the planets in order from the sun!”

“Mercury….Venus….Earth….ummm…”

“It’s Mars!” I catch him, scoop up my laughing boy and bring him back to our beach blanket.  We have a snack.

A moment later, “Name all the planets in order from the sun.”

“Mercury….Venus….Earth….ummm…Mars…Jupiter…ummm…Neptune?”

“Neptune?! Do you know what I do to boys who say that Neptune comes after Jupiter?” We continue our game of space trivia Duck, duck, goose until he has them memorized, backwards and forwards.

What do you do to make learning fun?

In two weeks I’ll give a free Kidorable Umbrella to whoever makes my favorite comment and shares this post on the platform of their choice.
