Kerrr-PLAARRK!!!

Here are some photos and stuff from the other musical that went up last week from Wednesday morning (March 29) until Saturday, April 1! "A Hen-Made Tale", the story of a bunch of chickens who want nothing more than a day off from laying eggs... but to do this, they need to get the suave Rooster to stop crowing for one morning! How...?

This was a really cute and energetic show performed by five people, with a live band comprising me, Nathan on bass, and Kevin on drums. The shows themselves were a lot of fun, though behind-the-scenes it was a bit of a mess, at least for the 2-3rds of the way, as I wrote about in one of my previous posts.

It all culminated with me, director Dom, and the two folks from the production company having a heart-to-heart (via Zoom, as they were out of town), and me reminding them that it's a privilege to have a composer create an entire musical for you from scratch, for a waaaaaay too small portion of the fee it would usually cost for 15 songs, an original script, scores, orchestrations, demos and whatnot.

But anyway it was all settled in the end, and like the show itself says, "It was a happy ending!" The team has plans in the future to restage this as it should definitely not be a one-off show; rather, given its length (an hour long) and relatively small scale, it should tour and be performed elsewhere, not just limited to a five-show run in the Klang Valley.

Whatever the case, here are some pics from various sources, plus a very short promo video with music from the show. Enjoy!

My view from the band area!
