Crispy Garlic and Herb Tofu Nourish Bowl

Crispy Garlic and Herb Tofu Nourish Bowl

This garlic and Herb Tofu Nourish bowl is the meal that I make when I’m just not in the mood to cook. It takes only 20 minutes, it’s a bowl filled with goodness. This garlicky and herbaceous  crispy tofu is so good!

Bowls with many components are a great way to eat a variety of textures, flavors, nutrition and colors. It’s also customizable, and makes for an idea weekday meal.

If not tofu, use any other plant based protein you like. The garlic and herb though are non negotiable

What you need to make this Garlic and Herb Tofu Nourish Bowl

extra firm tofu
fresh garlic
fresh mint
thai basil (or regular basil)
sesame oil

Also in the bowl:
Shredded red cabbage + salt + lime juice
Pickled red onions
Salad greens tossed in tahini + lemon juice

How to make Garlic and Herb Tofu Nourish Bowl

Remove tofu from the package, drain all liquid out. Dab the tofu with a clean kitchen towel, wrap it and press it down with a weight on it. Leave it pressed for 30 minutes. Then cube it and it’s ready to cook with.

Heat canola oil in a pan, add garlic and fry for a couple of minutes until golden brown. Toss in cubed tofu, and salt. Toss together and cook over medium-high heat. Allow the tofu to crisp undisturbed for 5 minutes, toss and continue crisping until it’s golden brown and crispy all over. This takes about 10 minutes. Next toss in mint, thai basil and sesame oil. Turn off heat and it’s done!

Let me take a moment to include some shots of our mint & thai basil that we grow in our little urban backyard Fresh herbs just hit differently.

And plating this up is important, so make sure you got some color and flavor in there too. I have some dark leafy greens tossed with tahini and lemon juice, along with shredded red cabbage dressed with salt & lemon juice and some pickled onions.
