Prepare for Successful Jungle Adventure in These 4 Steps

The cramped office cubicles, hectic traffics, city noise, and monotony of routine life can be boring. That’s why most people look for ways to disconnect from this “programmed” life and get closer to nature. This is where Jungle adventure comes in handy.

Hiking and trekking through rugged and dense forests might sound enchanting. However, jungle life comes with danger and underlying risks. You’re likely to meet with dangerous creatures and unfavorable weather conditions.

Having said that, you shouldn’t hold back from connecting with beautiful nature and exploring jungles.

We’ve provided four tips to prepare you for a successful Jungle Adventure in advance.

1) The Jungle Is Full of Vexing Insects

You will meet with pesky insects, large and small, harmful and harmless. But these eerie crawlers are part of the jungle ecosystem. They come in a wide array of colors, sizes, and shapes.

They might be creepy, but believe it or not, they keep the rainforest thriving by transferring plant materials. However, they can be dangerous. They can cause burning bumps, rashes, and itching sensations that can last for weeks.

Most people are also allergic to insect stings and bites.

So how do you prepare?

Carry a bug spray and spray your clothes. You can also carry garlic to put off mosquitos. Garlic can also be used on jungle dishes.

You can also carry other anti-itch remedies like menthol. Rubbing menthol on stings can be soothing. Lemon is another excellent remedy for itchy bumps.

The clothes you wear will also make a difference. For instance, white color attracts fewer mosquitoes. Remember to wear loose-fitting clothes so the crawling or flying insects cannot reach your skin.

2) Dress Appropriately

Clothing is part of the jungle shield. Your jungle fashion should include a light sweater or jacket. The jungle is mostly hot, but it can also get extremely cold.

It’s most likely your stuff can get wet. So having a light rain jacket or a warm poncho will do you good. Cover your minimalist backpack to prevent other items from getting wet.

You’ll also be hiking and trekking or kayaking. For this reason, carrying workout clothes is highly recommendable.

3) Keep Warm

Unlike a campfire, making a fire in subtropical and equatorial forests is never an easy task, especially during the rainy season. Firewood might be perfectly dry but saturated with moisture.

So, find enough twigs, leaves, and barks. Carry lighters or traditional matches and enough fuel. Alternatively, you can light the fire using the traditional method: friction.

4) Water and Hygiene Needs

Humid and hot climates combined with heightened physical activities are surefire recipes for dehydration. You may ask the tour company if they provide bottled water. Alternatively, you can carry water, double what you normally take.

Being in the jungle means being gross. You’ll be sweaty and muddy, so keep the basics with you. But be careful of products you bring into the jungle as most of them are harmful to rainforest life equilibrium.

Carry toilet papers, baby wipes, and essentials for your dental hygiene.

The Bottom Line

A jungle adventure can be enthralling, but only if you’re well prepared. Plus, we all want to take care of the jungle ecosystem. So, your impact should be extremely minimal. But what other tools or tips do you think would help someone prepare for a jungle adventure? Are there ways you have seen that balance your own needs while still protecting the environment?
