The Boys are Back in Town

The boys got back from California last night (they were visiting grandparents), and I was delighted to realize I missed them and was happy they were back.  I was so worn out from parenting and so excited for the break that I was also worried I'd grow too selfish while they were gone and not be ready for them to get back.  Not the case!

School starts for Devon next week, so I'm in the process of getting things ready for him to go back.  He has decided to stay at our neighborhood School instead of attending a charter school that we found, which means no after school program.  As a result, we need to find an afternoon nanny.  He's almost 12, but past experience has shown that he's not quite ready to stay home by himself during the school year.  I want him on a schedule of snack/play time, chores, and homework.  He won't do his homework or chores if there is no one there to help/make him.

So, I got an account on Care.com and we interview a high school senior tomorrow morning.  She lives in our town which is super helpful, and I'm hoping that since she's in high school she'll be a little less expensive.

Part of setting up a profile on this site includes a picture.  The only complete Family Pictures we have are from our wedding, so I decided to put a picture of the boys up instead.

I tried this one first:

It's my favorite picture of the boys from the wedding. They look so adorable and sweet.

It got denied.

It's copyrighted.

So I tried this one next:

I love this picture because it shows my boys as they really are: hooligans with Nerf supplies and a desire to be ninjas (not members of the Taliban).

It got denied, too.

Apparently it was offensive.

Finally I went with this one:

As far as I know it was approved.  But it's not the best picture (you can tell which boys I dressed!).

This experience made me realize that we need to take family pictures again.
