9 Ways to Get Your Act Together in Just a Few Days

%%sitename%% | The Self-Improvement Blog | Self-Esteem | Self Confidence

Do you need to get your act together? Life can get overwhelming; there’s no doubt about it. Sometimes you feel like you’ve completely lost control. You’re looking for a way to get a grip on the wheel before you completely spin out.

Not only can you correct your course, but you can do it fast.

These nine ways to get your act together are all things you can start doing right now to point your life back in the right direction. Choose to put these things into practice right after reading, and you’ll start seeing the impact in just a few days!

1. Practice Gratitude

The first step you can take to get your life under control is to look at it from a perspective of gratitude first.

It’s extremely easy to get caught up in complaining, especially when you’re feeling stressed. But it’s so much easier to appreciate even the small things you have in your life when you’re mindful about being grateful.

Practicing gratitude increases feelings of happiness and brings you greater satisfaction with life. That makes it a great place to start this journey.

2. Be Responsible

Be trustworthy, and make sure you have a reputation for reliability.

Take responsibility for the things you say you will do. Don’t just agree to do something without thinking it over. First, be sure you’ll actually be able to do it.

Always be honest about what you’re capable of doing. If you know you won’t be able to do something, it’s better to say so upfront rather than trying to get out of it later.

You’ll be under a lot less stress.

If, for some reason, you don’t get something done that you promised to do, don’t make excuses for yourself. Own up to your mistake. You’re human — it’s bound to happen. And if it was an honest mistake, others will understand.

You can always make up for it later down the line.

3. Save Some Money

Financial health is only one facet of having your act together, but it’s an important one. When you’re secure in your finances, it’s much easier for you to get the most satisfaction out of life.

The burden on your mind will lessen, knowing that you are in a place of stability.

Start your savings as soon as you’re able and make sure you keep up with them. Things come up that may prevent you from saving one month, but don’t let that derail your progress.

Make it one of your top priorities to save as much as you can each month to build a nice cushion in the event you need to fall back on it.

4.  Set Goals

Goals give you a plan to follow. They set up the roadmap for your life. You may not be able to account for every roadside attraction along the way, but at least you know where you’re heading.

Setting goals will give you an idea of what you should be doing to get where you want to be in life.

Focus first on high priority goals.

You can address the little ones later. Right now, you need to figure out what you want in the long term. Take a look at the big picture and figure out where you’re going.

Your goals should be specific so that you can easily create a plan to meet them. And on top of that, make sure they are actually attainable.

Now write your goals down.

Hold yourself accountable for following the map you’ve laid out. Keep a record of what you’re doing to reach your goals, how well you’re following the plan, and where and why plans have changed.

Then it’s just a matter of putting your plans into action!

5. Start Organizing

In order to get your act together, you need to literally get your stuff together.

Organizing your life will make things so much easier for you in the long run. Once everything is where it’s supposed to be, your days will run a lot smoother.

No more feeling like your life is a mess!

Start by decluttering your home. Sort through everything and get rid of the things you don’t want or need anymore. Clear out the old to make room for your new way of life.

Make sure the things you keep have a home and get put there after you use them. If you don’t have space for something, you either don’t need it or need to get rid of something else to make space for it.

Beyond the physical, keep your schedule organized.

It’s impossible to remember everything you need to do and when you need to do it. It’s easy to forget events and deadlines, and you’re left feeling like you’ve failed for missing something you were supposed to do.

Get in the habit of writing things down.

Mark important dates on your calendar. Make a note of your deadlines. Write out your grocery list. Write down phone numbers, ideas, and even random thoughts.

And above all else — don’t procrastinate!

It’s impossible to stay organized if you put things off. So, put things away as soon as you’ve finished using them. Take note of a deadline as soon as it’s assigned. Call and make that appointment the moment you realize you need to.

As you organize your life, you’ll start to see how on top of things you can truly feel.

6. Be Aware of Yourself

You are 100% responsible for you.

It’s essential that you have a strong sense of self if you want to get your act together. If you don’t know yourself, you can’t expect to control how you live your life.

Get to know what drives you. What are you passionate about? Learn about your biggest strengths and the weaknesses you need to work on.

Really take a look at yourself and your emotions.

One way you can work on getting your life together is to learn to identify your negative emotions. They tend to cause us to react in ways we wouldn’t typically respond, especially if we ignore them and push them away.

Take a step back and ask yourself why you feel the way you do in certain situations. Start to accept your negative emotions as part of yourself just as much as the positive ones.

This will make it much easier to stay the course you’re setting for yourself.

7. Look After Your Health

Eating right and being active is one way to really get in tune with your physical self.

When your body feels good, you feel good about yourself. Your self-esteem gets a boost, and you feel like you can take on the world.

Living a healthy lifestyle has a ton of amazing benefits. Important things like helping you sleep better and decreasing your risk of developing illnesses. It motivates you to get up and get things done so that you’re firmly in control of your life.

Make it a point to exercise regularly and go with the smart choices, so you’re fully prepared to get your act together.

8. Spend Time With Good People

Your close relationships have a significant impact on your life.

Spend time with people that add to your life and make you feel positive. Toxic people will only bring you down, taking from you without giving anything back. It’s incredibly draining.

If someone doesn’t make you feel positive or feel better about life, they’re not worth having around.

9. Be Present

It’s easy to get hung up dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

By focusing on the present, you can be much more productive, which is key to getting your act together.

Living in the present makes you feel happier and more satisfied with how you’re spending your time. Even when you’re doing something fun or spending time with your friends, you don’t feel like you’re wasting time. Because you’re not focused on the work you have to do tomorrow.

Enjoy the here and now. You deserve that much.

In Conclusion

You don’t have to wait until next week, next month, or next year to start working on your life. And, you don’t need that next promotion. You don’t need to hold off until graduation.

You can start getting your act together right now.

Use these nine ways to put on the brakes and regain control of the wheel. You don’t have to keep going down the road you’re on. You’re just as capable of turning things around and heading in the right direction.

And once you do, step on the gas, and don’t look back!
