I woke up this morning knowing that on the other side of my window was a winter wonderland in full effect. But, it is April 1st. And, a Saturday that I have to work. I am aching for flip flop weather.  So, I went to my happy place- St. John USVI.  I imagined sitting on the Beach with my husband, as our son quietly built sandcastles nearby. To be honest, my happy place is any beach, any place, with my husband and son. But, today- STJ.

Ideally, my happy place would be right where I am. I suppose I am not that enlightened yet. And, that is okay…

I lean into you

The crook of our elbows fit together perfectly

I look over at you

Your eyes are closed

Your lips are pursed into a gentle smile

I take a deep breath before I let my breath join yours in unison

I press my feet deeper into the warmth

Raise my face toward the sun

And allow the soft whooshes to satisfy my soul.
