Artful Dodger featuring Melanie Blatt – Twentyfourseven (Music Video)

Peak UK Chart Position: #6 in September 2001.

Also on the birthday list for March 25th is Melanie Blatt, one-quarter of all-girl group All Saints, who celebrates her 42nd today. In the twenty years since bursting onto the scene with “I Know Where It’s At”, she has been part of five UK number ones with All Saints – including the million-seller “Never Ever”, and “Pure Shores” – as well as a brief solo career during which “Do Me Wrong” (credited as Mel Blatt) peaked at number 18. She has also ventured into television work, hosting ITV2’s The Hot Desk and appearing on New Zealand’s version of The X Factor. 2016 saw the third coming of All Saints, and a new album entitled “Red Flag”.

“Twentyfourseven” was Blatt’s first post-All Saints chart appearance, as featured artist with Southampton-based garage production act Artful Dodger – who, at the time, was solely Mark Hill. He and Pete Devereux had scored five top twenty hits prior to this, helping launch the career of Craig David on “Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Selecta”, and also scoring a number two with the immensely catchy “Movin’ Too Fast” featuring Romina Johnson. Devereux left the duo, and Hill continued with this release, and subsequently “It Ain’t Enough”, collaborating with Dreem Team and current Artful Dodger member MC Alistair.
