10 Questions about the Newest Binge: Stranger Things

If you haven’t seen Stranger Things on Netflix, what are you doing. As long as you’re fine with being a little thrilled and sitting on the edge of your seat, I can promise you will like this show. Or perhaps I’m blinded by my own love. Basically it speaks to interest in scary things (like American Horror Story), eighties anything (Breakfast Club), traditional american vibes (Supernatural) and government conspiracies ( X Files).

Also the eighties playlist is to die for, and had an influence on my weekly playlist.

Spoilers. Obviously.

I raced through all eight episodes in two days and was instantly left with a feeling of loss. I need more, I have so many questions! Of course there has been talk of a second season, but I need more now. I’m coping by re-binging classic favorites (Criminal Minds).

1. Who is Dr. Brenner?

Okay so we know he’s evil, but is he Eleven’s father? Or is it some sort of Stockholm Syndrome relationship? Where did he come from? Did he die? Is he concerned with the communist russians or about trippy science?

2. Is Will Imagining the side effects?

Will pukes up the slug, but is it PTSD or did he actually puke up a slug. Which is disgusting and he should probably get that checked out.

3. Who are children 1-10?

Or did Dr. Brenner just think “Eleven” sounded so beautiful? It’s logical to assume other women aside from El’s mom signed up for the study and were potentially pregnant/impregnated.

4Is Mr. Clarke a serious player?

He hardcore flirts with the women from Hawkins Lab who comes to talk about the AV club, and we see him with a lady way out of his league on a pre-Netflix, Netflix and Chill date.

5. How the hell does Will survive?

Barb seemed like a mature, logical women, and she survives less than five minutes in the Upside Down. So how does Will last a week? The monster is an insane killer, and I highly doubt Will’s hide and go seek skills were that amazing.

6. Is Nancy going to end up with Jonathan?

I’m Team-Steve all the way. He totally redeemed himself and seems a lot more emotionally stable in comparison to Jonathan, and less critical to boot. However, the longing looks at the end of the show left me feeling icky (as with all the hand holding). Sure, Steve supported the camera present (and maybe it was his idea), but Nancy seemed just a little too sweet with Jonathan.

7. Where did the Chief go with those agents?

Obviously there has to be a season 2 about whatever new junk the Chief is involved in. I mean, unless Hawkins Lab did some “Men in Black” type stuff and blanked his memory. If aliens exist, they’re at Hawkins lab.

8. So is Eleven gone or not?

She poofed in to dust, but it’d be hard to imagine the hinted season 2 without her. More so, who was the Chief leaving waffles for? If the waffles were just a token memory (like how flowers are left at graves), I doubt he would need the special box . I’m going to guess that he puts the food there so she can access it, but why? Why is she hiding? Why does only he know?

9. Is there more than one monster?

If the Upside Down is our world but upside down, it’s huge. It’s likely that it’s full of a bunch of crap (aside from slugs) and more than one monster. The egg that Joyce and the Chief stumbled on was a huge hint that there are more of the beasts, but can they still get into the “normal” world.

10. Is the Upside Down sealed?

From what we know, Eleven opened the Upside Down, and she also had a connection to the monster. However- Eleven is *maybe* gone, the Upside Down would be sealed. BUT- with the waffles, and if there are other children, it’s likely the world is still open. If there are more monsters, this could be a big issue. Also, even if it was sealed, if Will is really puking up sluggies from the parallel universe, the worlds have mixed.
