Music of the Week #1

I grew up in a Music obsessed family. Born and raised by hipsters, my parents would constantly try to “discover” the newest artist to show off to one another. Every week I carefully curate a playlist of the week, and this week I thought, why not share that hard work with other people looking to find great music? The actual playlist is much longer- about 25-50 songs that I keep in my “CURRENT” playlist on spotify (Lenny Furtniture is my spotify name). Find me there if you want more- but stay tuned for next week’s pic of five.

Fresh Eyes- Andry Grammer

I’ve had this song in my head all week. It’s catchy, happy, but something apart from the other electronic-poppy songs clogging the airwaves. I’m sorry if you’ll be humming it all week.

Sunshine- Powers

The immediate build at the start of this song reminds me of “Animal” by Miike Snow. I’m a big fan of happy songs, and this song fits within my parameters. The high notes at the chorus give me chills!

Lost (Acoustic)- Leo Stannard

A little less poppy, but an amazing work of art. Leo Stannard is my new favorite artist. There isnt’ enough of his stuff on spotify- I’ve already worn through it all. His voice is chilling, and without sounding too cheasy, it touches the soul.

Keep A Secret- Project Bongo

More of a classic summer beat, with California vibes. A windowsdown, singing at the top of your lungs kind of song.

Dinosaur Bones- Stop Light Observations

This reminds me of the weird stuff I used to listen to in middle school (nevershoutnever anyone?) But it’s a nice chill tune that you can sway to on the beach. More of a laid-back California jam compared to “Keep a Secret”.
