Mother of Pearl is one of those eccentric designers that isn’t too well-known, but has a strong cult following. Creative Director Maia Norman and Head Designer Amy Powney collaborate with a different artist for each collection. The creative influence changes each season, yet the designs all manage to keep in the spirit of the brand. Personally, I am only vaguely familiar with the clothing from this designer. But Mother of Pearl does handbags as well. The one pictured here really caught my eye today. Meet the Mother of Pearl Cross Body Bag! Simple silhouette? Check. Minimal details? Check. Classic bucket styling? Check. Seriously, what isn’t to love out this piece? The light grey is a great, neutral color and it compliments the simple details nicely. I also like the cute, zigzag edge along the top of the bag and the plain fold over snap closure. Despite the smaller size of this bag, the top looks like it opens wide so you can see what is rolling around in the bottom.
