Tonight was one of the best nights of my life in months, for what ten minutes the reason for it lasted.
A random tenor from Choir and I threw our hoods down, danced, played, and jumped in Rain puddles to make big splashes all the way home from choir today. We were coming upon a big puddle in a depression between the road and sidewalk, and without even looking at the other, as though of one mind, we both enthusiastically leapt in.
It was craziness . . . I think he's been wanting to talk to me for a while, and since we were going the same way to get home, he struck up a conversation . . . and we ended up finding the common joy of playing in warm rain.
It was awesome! I got home soaked from hair to neck and knees to socks. My shoes will be no good for at least a week of hanging to dry out, and I might end up tossing them in the dryer a few times. I literally rang out my skirt for minutes before it wasn't randomly dripping.
I made him laugh with my antics, and he made me feel more freespirited and lighthearted with joining in the frolicking than I've felt in months.
I don't even know his name, he doesn't know mine, and we'd never spoken a word to each other before, but it didn't matter.
And I hope it rains again next week, or snows, so we can gallavant and caper and act like children together again.
