This calls for a yay turtle!

So I had my 3-month follow-up appointment today. I’d been dreading this Visit, particularly fretting the last couple of weeks over it. I’d been afraid that I haven’t abstained from enough carbs or lost enough weight. Silly, I know, but still! I worry and stress over things that are either non-issues or beyond my control. Still working on that …

Anyways, today’s visit went great! He said that I looked “noticeably thinner.” I’d lost another 4 pounds since my weigh-in with the trainer a few weeks back. He asked about my medication and I relayed with much enthusiasm how much I am loving my new migraine medicine, and that I hadn’t had a migraine since February. We talked about my weight loss goals and my current diet. He agreed with my dietician that I’d been a little hard on myself, and that as long as I don’t fall back into my old eating habits, that I will continue to lose weight and be just fine. My doctor recommended I get a pneumonia vaccine, so I got that this visit as well.

The laboratory vampire drew her customary amount for the usual tests and asked about my family. I reminded her that her lab room needed bats and spooky things that most people would expect vampires to have. (Heh, I call her that, but she’s really a sweet older woman with a fantastic smile. I love talking to her. I still hate needles, but she’s a really good phlebotomist and keeps things as painless as possible!)

I left the appointment feeling really good about myself, but still feeling a little self-doubt because I wouldn’t know the blood test results until tonight or tomorrow. I was eating dinner and received an email from my doctor:

I have reviewed your lab results and everything looks great. your cholesterol is excellent and you have gone back to the pre-diabetes range for your hemoglobin A1c. Keep up the great work!

YAY!

Seriously seriously SERIOUSLY good news! I’m so stoked right now. My A1C is currently 6.3%. I’d like to get it lower, but that’s a really good start.

This definitely calls for a yay turtle!
