Being thankful

Tags: grateful love

I’m off to spend time with family tomorrow, then maybe see some friends. Having taken a couple days off work, I’ve been truly unplugged from work, MMOs, and the news. I hadn’t realized how much I needed it. A little “recharge time” I guess you could say.

I’ve slept, watched movies, played completely through Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines (again) as well as a handful of my Steam puzzle games. I’ve read (though not as much as I should!). I am proud to say I’ve done absolutely NO WORK WHATSOEVER. (Happy now, boss? ;))

I’ve had a lot of time to think about giving thanks for everything I have, everything that I should be Grateful for. I’m not wealthy, but I have a roof over my head and a car that works. I am grateful for them. I have a job that I love. I am grateful for it. I am in better health now than I was at this time last year, or the year before. I am grateful for that. I have loved ones who love me back, despite my shortcomings and downfalls. I am grateful for them also.

I know I’m not an easy person to love. I’m eternally grateful to those in my life who love me as I love them.

I’ve made new friends. I’ve reconnected with some old friends. I’m grateful for them. I’ve cut ties with those who’ve hurt me. I’m grateful that I had the strength to do what I couldn’t do before — protect myself.

I’ve tried to give where I could, help others when I had the means. I wish I could do more, but am glad when I can help, if only a little. I’m grateful to have the ability to do so.

The holidays are still hard for me, but it’s slowly getting better. I hope that any of you who have shared my pain are doing better. I would be happy to say a prayer or light a candle if anyone needs. Please ask me.
