Home Town Blues

This Town makes me ill.
The greyfaced buildings with diarrhea pebbledash. The death track roads that lead to nowhere, I saw five accidents in the last week, one involving a bus shelter. The way people walk with the fusion of jaw bone and sternum with pinched pitt-bull eyes looking, always looking, measuring, threatening.
I saw someone I recognised from school. She didn't recognise me through my hair. She hadn't changed in 15 years apart from the pushchair.
This place makes you pregnant.
I'm shocked at myself for the marathon of drinking and smoking I have entered into. I've never been a sprinter, always about distance. I'm not like this on the other side of the country.
When I say there is nothing else to do.
When the dullness of an unloving city turns to drink, turns to violence, turns to sex, turns the page, new headline. It's getting worse. Can't be news without being new.
This place is quite, quite lonely.
I see that Google Earth has added a lot more areas for high-definition
And from this metaversical place
It doesn't look so bad from up here.
