Welcome To A New Week 7/29

Welcome to a new week and Monday is included. Me, I’m behind my self-imposed schedule so both you and I are going to have to just deal with it. Look at that sentence ending!!!

For Starters:

I’m stationary at the time, so I’m looking for ways to be adventurous. Lately that’s been eating at my neighbor’s house. He cooks up some exotic foods. Well, maybe not exotic but different.

Adventure. Here’s the challenge of ‘adventure’, finding it in where we are, what we do and the how we do it.

That’s where I’m at this morning…..this week!!

I was thinking just moments ago of what I once thought my ideal life would be like. I can honestly say that money wasn’t anywhere in the thought. It was my daily doings!!! So, my adventures are found in bending my present reality to fit my ideal life.

Give yourself the opportunity to seek out new adventures…..okay all of them would be new. Maybe it’ll be a different drive to where you’re going this morning. How about how you greet people all day? A new ‘habit’ to be formed….. Here’s a thought, don’t try to break an old habit, start work on forming a new habit!!

And don’t forget what I said last week, “1 little thing can make a big difference”.

Be adventurous!!!

Quotes:

“What you think of yourself is far more important than what others may think of you” – John Gaudet

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” –Joshua J. Marine

“I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.” –Leonardo da Vinci

It’s not enough to just read quotes and feel good. There’s meaning here. And that meaning is best when applied to life. Quotes can bring life to life when “we must do”.

I’m not one for deadlines but they seem to work. I’ve learned thru the years that deadlines are of most important in that something is accomplished.

Today’s not a bad day to add a bit of “must do” to “make life meaningful”.

Make the best of this new week.

Fun:

I must admit that when I’m feeling ill (a recent bout with Sciatica) I’m not in the mood for fun. Although I’d rather be in a better state of ‘health’ that I may have fun.

I’ve found when I’ve done something that I consider (and possibly others would too) stupid (usually after the fact) that fun isn’t in the realm of my reality.

So, I’m trying to eliminate ‘doin g something stupid’ because I’d rather have fun.

Fun. It can be had by just the whim of our will. The challenge is in changing the way we perceive others might judge our having fun. That potential ‘judgement’ gets in the way. So, I’m saying, let’s no longer concern ourselves with their ‘judgement’….it only relates to their present state of mind anyway!

Fun can be applied with the doing of what ‘we must do’. I believe fun is a foundational component of ‘making life meaningful’. Something that shouldn’t be ignored.

If you’re in a profession that you can’t get out of because you make ‘so much’ money, then you need to find a way to make it fun!!!

Vocabulary:

Our words give life to our lives.

I have an acquaintance that is oh so good hearted, he would give the Shirt off his back to someone in need.

That’s a good thing.

However, he says in a ‘honestly humble’ way that ‘all he needs is what he needs to get by’.

That sounds admirable.

But here’s the problem with that line of thought. If you only desire to get what it takes for ‘you’ to get by in life, then there’s no excess to assist someone that’s on the down and out. You follow me on that? If not think of it like this….in order to give the shirt off your back, you have to have one to give. You soon arrive at the point where you have no shirt to give.

Make the best of this new week.

Character:

To me consistency of doing the right thing is important.

I think the problem doesn’t lie in doin the right thing so much as it does in being consistent.

Consistency tends to bring stability and rationality to the important moments of life. Too often people make decisions based on emotion and that isn’t good. Our emotions tend too fluctuate.

There lies a broken point in life. Emotional decisions aren’t the best.

Do we make decisions only when we’re happy? Of course not, we make decisions at times of emotional tumult.

The key is to look outside of what is effecting us emotionally and make decisions unemotionally.

Make the best of this new week.

I know this sounds perhaps too simple, but sometimes the to simple method is the correct method. If we allow emotions to dictate our decisions, we allow ourselves to eventually become ‘shirtless’.

Okay, it’s a late start to a great week. You can make it happen. It is my intention to make my life meaningful because of my ‘must do’ approach so I don’t become shirtless thus allowing me to be helpful.

I’m on my way.

Have a FAB week!

Peace, love, and beaches,

John
