The 4th of July!! Independence Day!! And the Celebration continues thru the weekend!

Today is Friday the 5th of July. But, here in America just the fact that it’s Friday is enough of a reason to start celebrating! Add to that ‘the 4th of July’ and we have a ‘holiday weekend’ of continuous celebration!!

The celebration of the 4th of July yesterday seemed a bit more fervid than usual with the political upheavel caused by the recent socialism movement.

I think the loudness and dominance of patriotism displayed yesterday will rise above the socialism movement……and it continues this weekend. For many the celebration just carries over for the next 3 days!

This wave of partiotism is refreshing. Reminds me of the days of my youth when waving the American flag and pride in that flag was a way of life. It makes me wonder how this country has so changed in the past few decades.

There will be more bar-b-ques, more beer (rum, vodka, tequila and whiskey too), more fireworks, more beach goers, and more flags this weekend than usual.

We celebrate and wear our freedom well here in the United States and rightfully so. So many before us and even now have laid down their lives for the cause and price of freedom.

Over the past several years I’ve had the opportunity to travel abroad and experience (many ‘wonderful’ experiences too) and, there’s no place like America. Many countries offer a watered down version of what America is all about…..but it just ain’t the same. The character, love, and passion can’t be matched. There is the heart of our reason to celebrate, right there!

The 4th of July Weekend; The Celebration Continues

Me, I don’t like crowds. But, I love celebrating and I love watching…..from a distance. I can remember watching the fireworks from my backyard in St. Petersburg, Florida….having my own private celebration.

While I won’t be going anywhere this weekend….just like last night being surrounded by revelers celebrating our Nations Independence, I’ll enjoy cooking out and watching their continued evening display. Ending the long weekend attending a nice little wedding. Not a bad way to end the celebration by celebrating the birth of a new family dedicated to love of family and love of this great country.
