My Last Day In Porto

Porto, which is only a month into my journey, is my favorite thus far.  The charm, character, food, wine and archetecture grabbed me and wouldn’t let go.

And I didn’t want it to let go!

This is gonna be more pictorial than written.  To me the pictures will say more than any words I could possibly misspell and misuse.

From the tops of hills to the rivers shore I thought ‘this is jusst so beautiful’…..

I was a bit daring, as I traversed this bridge!!!  This is actually 2 bridges.  The bottom part eye leve to the right and the upper in the background beyond the arch.  I walked BOTH!!!  I’m constantly confronting this heights thing I got!



One of those unique things on the beach, is where lovers come to lock lips, and put locks on the bridge proclaiming there eternal love.  Or until someone else comes along.   Just joking.  I think it’s sweet.

This is the southside, that being across the river… These boats were at one time used to ship the port wine in barrels to Porto. Now they are merely tourist attractions.  Pay to ride.  I thought they were gondiliers on steroids. Some critter???  Very nice people will stop with me to briefly chat and allow me to take their pictures…this one isn’t from the southside. Her mom gave me permission, cute but really shy.



Chestnuts!!!!  Roasted Chestnuts!  Not only the first time I’ve ever seen this but it’s also the first time I’ve eaten them.  Really good!  Eat ’em while their hot is when they are the best!  They have a type of cannister over a fire and that’s how they do it….I think.

A little more Porto…

 I shot this flower from really a far distance….working with my camera.  I thought, well it isn’t too bad!

 To the right is a train that crosses the bridge that I’m walking on….if you’re not paying attention it can be freaky! 

  Another of the Roman Empire relics from the church museum.  I think I’m gonna have to make a special page for this museum showings.
