Poor Girl's Guide to: Being Jobless

Being jobless is not anything new to the human race. Whether it be by choice or not unemployment is part of the huge professional wheel that we have created to survive. What's the longest that you've been unemployed? I'm jumping right into my fourth week and still striving for greatness. Now, my situation was self created and I'm sure is not as hard a story as some's if we wanted to get all nit picky and compare which we are not. To each his own journey and each journey is filled with greatness and possibility. It's easy to get down in the dumps if your in a situation like mine. Bills are going to be due soon and you're wondering how you're going to make ends meet if you can't nail one of the thousands of jobs you've applied to. So here's my top five tips on how to stay sane without going over the brink with worry.

**Disclaimer! These are thing's that I have learned while on my own little "vacation" if you will. My tips are from my experience but I am in hopes that someone of not many can get something from this post.

Number One: Apply to EVERY job you can. Go to every restaurant, office, business, with a copy of your resume. Some places you can go online to see if there is a Careers page. If so apply online but never forget the initiative it shows by taking your resume into the business itself. Go to Craig's List, call the local businesses, and watch for job fairs. Even if it isn't your ideal job, if you have no cash flow, sometimes you literally afford to be picky but be careful of scammers.

Number Two: Stay positive. The worst thing you can do is let yourself fall into a depression and feel pointless. Everything happens for a reason! Embrace the adventure. Sure, it will be hard but if you conquer it you'll come out on top and ten times stronger. Every morning I look in the mirror and tell myself to not quit, to stay strong, and I will end up right where I need to be. It also helps to have a sturdy support system. I have a really close connection with one person who has been worse off before and he keeps me from falling apart when a weak moment does occur.

Number Three: Keep Busy. With friends, with family, with pets, with hobbies, with made up things that don't have to be done. Whatever it is fill your time with tasks that make you feel as if you've accomplished something when you go to bed that night. I usually write, run, hang with friends, and do all the things I've claimed to not have time for.

Number Four: Continue to be Thankful. Be thankful for the things you do have! For me I still have a roof over my head, a car, my dog, and a couple of close peoples that I care a lot about. Sure, some of you may have these things but I can only speak up about my own experiences.

Number Five: You'll learn to hustle and never forget it. You'll learn how to make things work that you never would have considered before. This will make you and not break you, my friend. You can do this as we were all given inner strengths that we only discover when things get hard. Money is not your source of happiness but it is a means of survival. Keep applying and don't give in to the depression. You'll get there! Sometimes the Universe thinks you need to walk the path a little longer than you think you need to but in the end you'll understand why. The person who started on this journey will grow and learn things that he or she never would have been open to before hand.
