In all honesty, this year's May has been the best. My May's
especially last year'swere normally filled with bad memories.
This year was different.
College decision day.
After months of stressful night
and long, hard days at school, I chose between two colleges: UNR and SJSU. Both had benefits, ranging from being able to get away from my parents to receiving a generous allowance. I know I'm only 18, but deciding which college I wanted to go to was probably the most stressful thing I had ever been througheven more than finding out about college acceptances and rejections. Due to financial situations, I chose SJSU. Sure, staying at home was definitely not my first choice, but I'll be attending the university along with my best friends 1) Jackie and 2) Miguel. Thank God for that. I don't know what I'd do without them.
GO SPARTANS!
May 9th: Senior Ball.
I know it's senior year, and there's supposed to be NO DRAMA whatsoever, but it's high school. So there's bound to be drama. More like proma.
A few weeks before prom, there were issues about who's asking who, and where everyone's sitting; tension rose upon friendships. Trust me, it was no fun. Being in the middle of it all, I struggled being a good best friend to everyone. One because best friends wouldn't get along with other best friends, and two: there just wasn't enough time to spend with every single person. I felt horrible. Why couldn't we get all just get along? There'd be no complications. That's where the seating arrangements became a problem. And about prom datesmost people thought Gabe was gonna ask me, but that didn't happen. Miguel, Kat, and I went to his house to paint his prom ask for Danielle. I felt a little weird. I feel like it was definitely my doing; I brought her up to him since she had a huge crush on that boy. Despite all the proma, everything worked out in the end. Bless.
Senior ball was unimaginable: no one will ever forget that night.
Never forget "when the clock 'strickes' midnight."
My dress was bomb af. I was so in love with it, even though I pictured myself wearing a white dress.
After prom, we decided to go bowling. Who would've thought we'd do that? My legs were already getting sore from all those slut drops. I was DYING. We found ourselves at Denny's at 2 in the morning. I wasn't extremely sleepy yet. Dylan drove us back to Eegee's house afterwards only to find out that we were going to his friends house for beer pong and hookah. Don't worry mom, I didn't drink much beer. Because beer is nasty. As for the hookah... it was enjoyable. Strawberry flavored and everything.
The 14th: my birthday. And the last day of school. That, right there, sounded good enough to me; little did I know that the day would just keep progressing remarkably that it was unimaginable. When I first arrived at school, Miguel greeted me Happy Birthday, but he had nothing to hand me. Not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed. I thought, "Was this it?" A little selfish of me expecting more. Then Kat arrived with my balloons, tiara, and the Birthday Girl button (displayed on the shelves now). Numerous people greeted me a "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Birthday Princess". I just clearly remember when everyone sat on senior hill eating their popsicles, and the rain started to pour. I don't know why but it's just been my favorite moment—until senior pool party came along. I was a bit skeptical to enter the pool in my bikini. First off, it was literally 65 degrees. Second, only guys were swimming! No girl was daring enough to go in first. But damn. SO many hot bodies. I LITERALLY COULD NOT HANDLE ZACH'S BODY. If you're ever reading this, hi Zach. You're tan. And perfect. I'm in love with you. Anyways, I had plenty of bikini malfunctions; I got lucky my top never left my chest after jumping off those diving boards. Seeing Mr. Brosnan and the 20 others get dragged/thrown/pushed into the pool was probably my favorite part.
I went home after that party and boy, was I exhausted. I had no time to relax; I had a birthday dinner to attend at Maurizio's (where Karli works!). I tried the whole 15 minute "power nap" right after but that didn't seem to work. It was already 8:45 p.m.: time to head back to Mitty for our senior cruise. Should've drank coffee or some type of caffeine because honestly, my energy was DRAINING. I somehow managed to last after taking a nap on the ground in the dining room of the $1 million yacht at 2 in the morning. More and more dancing came our way. I was already worn out from prom just a week before, yet here we were hitting the whip early before sunrise. What I remember most was screaming on the top of my lungs as we sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge. Now THAT was incredible. No exact words to describe how nostalgic I felt, because it finally hit me. We were graduating. That sounds so strange because the four years went by so quickly that I wasn't even ready to leave Mitty. I love Mitty. Mitty's provided me so much love and care that I was scared SJSU wouldn't do the same for me. I was scared. I was sad. I mean, what's in the real world, anyway?
May 16, 8 a.m.: my brother wakes me up.
"Titi's coming to take us to lunch so better get in the shower!"
I was confused.
Titi is Aunt Heather. She lives in Virginia; my thoughts were scattered. Was this supposed to be a surprise visit?
I figured since this was a lunch thing, I'd dress it up just a little—nothing too fancy. Titi was supposed to arrive at noon, but no one rang the order until 12:45. It was Sierra.
Again, I was confused. Why was she here?
The doorbell rang one more time. Jackie, Allie, and Kat all came by and I was a LOT more confused. I told them that my sleepover started at 3, so I was just sitting there, once again, confused. They told me they'd just tag along during my lunch, and I was like ...okay, I hope this doesn't get awkward. While everyone was in my room, Allie blindfolded me. I knew there was something comin' my way (Cue My Way by Fetty Wap). I just didn't know what it was. All of a sudden, there I was! Inside a party bus, as the rest of my friends screamed "SURPRISE!" That party bus had a stripper pole. A STRIPPER POLE. I was still extremely sore from dancing on the cruise that I didn't have too much energy to dance, yet it was still fun to spend some time with my closest friends in a small space like that. Next time don't forget the male strippers.
Once we came home, I noticed that the whole backyard was filled—and I mean FILLED—with hawaiian decorations. SO cute! I loved the whole beach theme. The pool party wore me out too, to be honest. Did I mention Mexican catering? The food was simply incredible: no other words to describe how delicious it was.
10:38 P.M.
That specific time had been stuck in my head for a while. I was wondering what'd happen at that time. And you know what did?
Miguel's epic slut drop on the streets. I saved the evidence at 10:38 P.M. without realizing it until the next day. On the way home from our gogurt run (which was inspired by Cards Against Humanity), Miguel decided to get out of the car and perform his infamous slut drop. We left him on the streets as the other car picked him up. That moment was just the funniest thing I could remember that night. I'm pretty sure I passed out in the middle of the horror movie because I was SO TIRED—tired to the point that a devil coming out of a mother wasn't enough to scare me.
The next few dayssenior dinner, baccalaureate mass, and graduationwill be in another post. There's just way too much that I wanna talk about. I'm too lazy to write any more in this one.
And there you have it.
The recap of May 1 - 17.

Kisses and Kitkats,
Denise
