Things I learnt from watching Wu Xia (Dragon)

In all fairness, Donnie Yen is one kick-ass Kongfu actor and the fight scenes that he choreographed were fantastic. And he is charming even if he’s acting stupid for most part of the Movie. I just couldn’t help noticing a couple of interesting things about the movie.

Consider this fair WARNING: If you have not seen the movie but plan to, the points listed below may give away some of the storyline.

Let us begin:

  1. Cattle can graze on roof-tops padded with grass. How they got up the roof or if the cattle ever get down to the ground is anybody’s guess.
  2. Cattle grazing on roof-tops will never fall off the edge – the lack of safety fencing immaterial.
  3. Grass can grow on roof-tops.
  4. When someone gets thrown out of the window, its means the fight scene is about to end.
  5. Be smart, act stupid and just maybe the detective hunting you down may switch over to your side.
  6. Chinese women in villages in 1917 wore caps loosely fashioned like Puritan ladies’ caps except that they were black colour.
  7. If you have very strong qi in your body, your bellowing can and will rattle a flimsy wooden house.
  8. You can rely on divine intervention from heaven above in the form of a zappy lightning strike on your bad-guy opponent to save you at the very last minute.
  9. The acupuncture needle can become a lightning conductor.
  10. Kongfu heros do not wear stretchy lycra outfits like Western superheroes. Instead, they wear loose baggy clothes to hide any possible beer gut and any other fatty bits.
