An Interview With Joe Miles

As you know, I recently went to see Shane Filan live in concert.  I always like to go for the doors opening so I can be in my seat for the support act.  The way I see it is you might just find a new artist or a new sound that you like.  That night it was Joe Miles and he was amazing, I also had the chance to meet him at the interval.  Recently I was lucky enough to put some questions to Joe so you can learn more about him.

1. How did you get into music? - I've always been surrounded by music my entire life with my Mum being a jazz singer and my Grandad; Terry Lightfoot being a jazz band leader in the 60’s, so I've grown up with music, being in the wings of theatres watching my Mum and Grandad ever since I was born.

2. Who are your musical inspirations? – My Grandad for sure followed mainly by John Mayer, and Jamie Cullum.

3. You play guitar but do you play any other instruments? – I can play the triangle.

4. If you didn’t get into music, what would you be doing? – Joe Miles tribute act or something to do with sport..

5. Who is your all-time favourite band/singer? – John Mayer.

6. You recently toured with Shane Filan, how did that feel? – It was amazing, a) to be touring with someone of Shane’s caliber and the success he's had, and b) playing those venues was UNBELIEVABLE. Playing theatres and concert halls are my dream venues.

7. The last night of the tour was in Glasgow, were there any end of tour pranks?
– yes haha. Rupes, the production manager who shines the torch each night (off stage so I can see), walked all the way onto the stage with me whilst still holding the torch.. That was quite funny..

8. What is the best thing about touring? - you're in your own little bubble for a month. You enjoy everything and have no worries whatsoever. Catering is amazing too!

9. What is the worst thing? – Travelling.. Sucks. Being in the car for 4000 miles and 80hours over a month is hard going..

10. Do you have any plans to tour the UK? – When I've broadened my fanbase off the back of other shows and support tours, then I will.

11. Tell us more about the songs we can find on the “Home Sound” EP? - that's my 4th EP. Always Around is track 1, followed by California which was written by Pete who I also wrote Always Around with, Fool in Love written with Amy Wadge, Wasting it All Away, also written with Pete Riley and then This Game.

12. Last question, what advice would you give to those who want to make it in the music industry? – There isn't any point in me answering that as I haven't ‘made it’ yet. But hopefully one day I can!

I would like to thank Joe for taking time out to answer my questions for you all.  As you can see, he really is down to earth and I think we will be seeing a lot more of him soon!
