Phone Consultation

Today I had my Phone Consultation with Dr. Sassani out of Ft. Lauderdale.  It was a lot easier than I was expecting and now I am actually thinking that this Surgery is actually going to happen sooner rather than later. Especially since he has an opening on January 7th.  Dr. Sassani talked started right away with going over what seemed like every question I had written down so that was good.

The surgery will last about 2 hours, recovery will be 1 to 1.5 hours and then from there I will be good to go.  There is a recovery center in the area called New Beginnings which I might be able to stay at depending on how much it costs.  I would probably only stay for the day of surgery then drive back to my home in Orlando where I will be more comfortable and familiar with.  Plus all my friends are up here and there is twistee treat!  The surgery itself sounds pretty clean and easy (for someone who knows that they are doing anyways).  I won't be able to do any cardio at all for 4 weeks after the surgery which is a super huge bummer but will be healed and recovered in time for the Princess 5k which means running without a binder!!!!  With my current role it seems like I will only miss about 2 weeks of work which is fantastic and will be supplemented with my short term disability insurance I have been paying for.

I have to get a letter from a head dr saying I can go on with my transition which is hilarious since I am not seeing one now and will just need someone to write a letter saying yeah he is good to go.  I am sure I can find one of those around here.

Now for the cost it looks like I will have to pay out of pocket for the surgery then get reimbursed. Total cost without insurance would be $6,311.10.  I could do care credit but I have recently applied and have been turned down so that is out of the question.  I will figure something out, I might need to get a cosigner for the care credit account but I will not let this stand in the way. with the $2500 we have through the health savings account I really only need $3811.00 covered by credit.
