In case readers of this blog was wondering where I’m at, I wanted to hide behind a couple of books doing rounds in my head for the last several months. Published by Peerbagh, these books are for children aged 3-12 years.
Ravan’s Lost Boon, by Vatsala Kakroo: Once I got the book pitched to me at Peerbagh, there was an instant connection. My contribution was to help with some Kashmiri Ramayan translations, that I loved. I hadn’t realized that a Kashmiri Ramayan even existed before this book came into our lives. And, if you’re a parent who has struggled with finding some time back, this is a perfect book to have activities that engage kids in so many different ways. You’ll get your chai while they get their colors. It’s a perfect solution to life as a parent. No kidding! Ideal for 8-12 year olds who can work independently.
20odle 20o by Dushyant Wadivkar: Literally there are like 2 picture books written by South-Asian men. This is one of them that tells a dad’s story in rhymes and pictures. My personal contribution was that the drawing you see there originated from my watercolor doodles that got converted into beautiful illustrations from the graphic artist. It’s a great read along book with young toddlers and kids aged 3-8 years.
This has been a good reading and writing year and for that I’m grateful. If you’re interested in reading and reviewing these books, send me a message!
