Kansas City Dog Parks

Never let it be said that Kansas City folks don't love their dogs! Just walk through some of the more popular Kansas City destinations like the Country Club Plaza or visit one of the great neighborhoods around like Brookside and you will notice the multiple shops that have doggie bowls out front and multiple walking trails. Dogs are also allowed on many restaurant patios in town, with many hosting special pet friendly events for dogs and their owners! Kansas City also has some of the best dog parks you'll find anywhere!

Shawnee Mission Park
Shawnee Mission off leash dog park is one of the more popular dog parks in town. A twenty minute drive from the metro area gets you to Shawnee Mission Park. Inside, a full 53 acres is set aside for dogs to run free. The most popular feature in the dog park is the swimming beach where Fido can take a refreshing dip in the lake. Most days in the summer the beach is full of dogs and their owners and is great place to socialize your dog! The park also features chipwood walking trails, both open and wooded areas and it's completely fenced. The park is located at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, KS 66219, and is open year round and open to the public..
Penn Valley Dog Park
Penn Valley off leash dog park is for the city dwellers. Located at W 28th St. & Wyandotte St. Kansas City, MO 64121, it's just a minute or two drive from downtown and just a ten minute drive from the Plaza and Westport areas of Kansas City. This dog park is 2.7 acres of fenced property that includes both a large and small dog area. Water fountains are available for people and dogs, and picnic tables dot the park for relaxing while the pups play. The park is open year round and open to the general public.
Wayside Waifs Bark Park
Wayside Waifs Bark Park is operated by the Wayside Waifs organization and is a no kill shelter. The annual membership dues collected from park users helps to support this local shelter. Members fill out an application and pay annual dues to receive a key to this wonderful park. The park is five acres with shaded areas and water fountains. The park is safely lighted and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a great way to support a local shelter! Visit the Wayside Waifs website for an application and the current dues for membership.
Remember that each dog park has it's own rules and regulations, so check those out before you go and remember to keep an eye on your dog at all times while visiting any Kansas City dog park!
