The Sound of October: Iligan Business Month 2012

“Moving Towards a Competitive Iligan” – that is the theme of the Business Month for this year as the month of October  folds with many activities to build up the momentum of the business climate in the city.

There are many activities that are lined up for the month-long celebration and different stakeholders from the business sector will converge with ideas formation and knowledge production in improving the development capital of Iligan City. After the launching program held last October 1 at Buhanginan Hills, the activities slowly pen the actions of vigor and passion for an Iligan that will again put itself in the business map of the Philippines.

The Business Forum 2012, being one of the activities set for the businessmen and entrepreneurs of the city, is a meet-up of different individuals who have proven worth towards their  placement in the business world. Also, this is a good avenue for people who wanted to enter the business world to learn the basics of commerce and industry and get some tips from experts and keynote guests. Aside from having speakers all the way from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Mayor Lawrence Cruz and Congressman Varf Belmonte will also grace the event. They will be talking about the role of government in supporting micro-scale enterprises and helping them grow as well as the government-business tie-up status for a better Iligan. This is in formulation of the idea that private sector and the government should work together to supplement a better economical end for the city.

The Lanao Area Conference 2012, with its theme "Building Competitive Advantage through Collaborative Partnerships", is also a very good avenue to gain more knowledge in the existing tie-ups. We need to acknowledge the fact that increasing business profit also means being more engaged in the market. Following that logic, partnerships help in giving aids when it comes to strategic points of business or marketing amidst financial bouts. That is where the goal of the Lanao Area Conference 2012 enters. It aims to empower Lanao homegrown entrepreneurs through collaborative networking. You get to know the experts of the field and recognize the value of tie-ups to profit and increase the economic position of the company.

The Iligan Trade Fair, which will happen on October 19-21 at Gaisano Mall, is a perfect opportunity to cater the products of Iligan and showcase the trade and commerce conditions of the city. Just by the tagline it wears,  "Showcasing the Best of Iligan", its primary goal is to provide an avenue for exposition of different products, trading deals, service providers and market that we have in the city. It's going to be a lane of purely Iliganon pride that supplemented the over-all economic lights of the city.
The enthralling Iligan Business Night 2012 goes Halloween, jiving with the dates of the month-end. It's going to be the culminating event of the month-long festival. With its trademark location at Z-bar, the Iligan Business Night is an annual event that hosts the dynamic entrepreneurs of the city in a night of acquaintance, learning, build-up of networks and all other fun activities. In the Business Night held last July, games were done to add-up to the thrill of the participants. This month, as a major highlight, participants are expected to wear halloween costumes with their own interpretations of ghost characters and awards will be given to the bests of the best.

With these highlight events, for sure this October will be special not just for the young entrepreneurs but for all the consumers who will enjoy the best discounts this month. Following the trail of activities in the calendar of activities laid by the city, you can see the Great City-Wide Sale fully encompassing the wide platform. Tourism Expo, Business Training, Know your City Tour and many more - all these things are up to happen in the very sound month of October.

Councilor Frederick Siao, the Chairman of Committee of Trade and Industry, along with dynamic support groups composed of Ms. Emily Pascua, President of CCIFII, Mr. Rolando Cuizon, Executive Director, IIPC, Hon. Lawrence LL. Cruz, Mayor, Hon. Vicente F. Belmonte Jr., Congressman and many others, enable the promulgation of these Business Month Activities.

The City of Iligan is hoping for a very fruitful business month that will form the best deals for the coming months in setting the tones of the business atmosphere.  And in reflection of the logo of ASENSO Iliganon, you can see how success is centered in unity of people from different colors. Resounding the forming principles of Business Month, regardless of the diversity in the dimensions of entrepreneurship and the scales of commercialization layers, we are all bounded with a common goal. And that is to have an Iligan that will be a top-pick for the new breed of Mindanao investors, an Iligan that will continually empower different groups who wanted to pursue even micro-scale enterprises and community-level livelihoods, a competitive Iligan that will be sound in the business world, taking leaps of faith, one sustainable business move at a time.
