The Meeting

Sunday afternoon was a marathon day in my search for The One. Limited in my selection of respectable homes, I decided to open my mind to condo's. It was a rough afternoon, filled primarily with crappy places I had no intention of moving to. One condo was amazing - located in Granby, it had the home-appeal. Unfortunately, despite my instant love affair with the place, it was just too expensive. I just couldn't afford it. I couldn't afford condo's in general - the fees just push me over the edge.

Part of my delay in finding The One was my lack of a pre-approval. I slacked on that task - primarily afraid the lender would give me a figure so far below my needs, I would never be able to afford a home. Wednesday, I gave in and called the lender who spoke at my home buying seminar in June. Thank god, because little did I know I was only hours away from finding my true love.

Wednesday night, our first stop for the day was in East Windsor. I had chosen this house from a marathon search through the MLS with my realtor the week before. Almost 900 square feet, it was seated close to the highway, but far enough in the neighborhood so that it wasn't busy. Immediately my mom and realtor proclaimed it's cuteness, and I was happy to discover that I agreed!

I was told by other homeowners that you just knew a house was meant for you. Like you just know that someone is your soul mate. I can't say I had that immediate knock-me-in-the-face feeling, but I do know I was happy. It's amazing the things you remember. My first impression of the house was the carpet. Walking up the front step into the house, I looked down and saw this great Berber carpet. The rest of the place was great - immaculate and well laid out. Plenty of room for improvements as well. Completely move-in ready, and totally my style. I wanted it, and my mom wanted it for me.

Coincidentally, my lender called me while I was in the house with a figure. It wasn't high enough, but my mom offered up the difference. This was the house for me in her opinion, and she would bend over backwards to help me get it. We wrote up an offer with my realtor that night, and sent it in. Now all we had to do was wait......
