Choice is the most powerful tool a person can hold. Freedom of choice is what millions of people have fought for - a right to control their own destiny, or at least the path they take to reach their destiny. Simple actions (from how to brush your teeth) to more complex ideas (what does one believe in) are all made possible by the ability to choose. Choice gives you control, empowers you and even when you look back and see all of the bad choices in your wake, at least you know that it was by your hand.
I have been starved of choice as of late. Decisions are being made on my behalf and I haven't gotten the courtesy of so much as a consult. No matter which road I want to travel, it seems the powers that be are not in sync with my desires. It is creating this unbelievable instability in my life that makes me feel like I'm teetering on the edge of disaster. I feel weak, foolish in my attempts to rule my life, and make choices based on my wants.
Today, dealing with it all, straws filling up my back hoping for a break, I say no. Yelling out in rebellion, I can only hope I get my way.
