Before doing certain tasks I like to say to myself ‘remember how you’ll feel’. In life it is so easy for humans to act impulsively without thinking of the consequences. For some people it can be difficult to have motivation to do certain things like exercising or preparing a wholesome meal, especially if you have habits that are deeply ingrained, are prone to procrastination or have dealt with depression. When I remind myself how I will feel it motivates me and also prevents me from doing things that aren’t going to make me feel uplifted which gives a deeper understanding of what I love and why it is important. Growing up I never knew what made me feel good so my life was just made up of events that made me feel bad. After a while, I thought this was just the way life was, I didn’t realise that I could change it. Having this knowing helps us to trust our bodies responses so we don’t stay in a place of fruitless habitual repetition.
