Trip Review – Barton Springs and Zilker Botanical Garden

Barton Springs Greenbelt. I found a tree to take my picture.

It was FINALLY a sunny and warm day after so many cloudy and depressing weeks. I decided that I don’t have time to waste waiting around for someone to join me, so I packed my ass in my car and drove up to Zilker park in Austin.

I had planned to eat at Cabo Bob’s Burritos, but as I drove up, there was a line of people waiting outside the door. I didn’t mind waiting in line, but if there was nowhere for me to sit and eat, then it was out of the question. I went to Jersey Mikes for a sandwich instead.

My second stop was Zilker Botanical Garden. I had never been there before, so it was time to check it out. Apparently everyone else in Austin had the same idea because parking was a premium, and I was lucky to find a spot at the far end.

It was a nice, historical, garden walk with shady trails that wound around gardens and little brooks and ponds. Very beautiful. I enjoyed it very much all by myself. There were plenty of other people there, all of whom couldn’t see me at all. That’s OK. I watched the other people as well as the plants.

When I was done there, I went over to the Barton Springs Greenbelt and hiked up the trail for about a mile. The weather was hot enough to sweat, but still not stifling like summer. I didn’t mind too much since I was dressed comfortably enough. It was a nice hike alone the river with plenty of shade, so I didn’t get sunburned. I passed many people invisibly and started saying Hello to those I passed just to make sure I hadn’t faded away completely. They responded reluctantly. It was enough, though, to make me feel somewhat existent.

After turning around after walking for a little over 30 minutes, I returned to my starting point and walked over to Bartin Springs Pool. I was surprised to see so many people there. The high temperature yesterday was 60 degrees F and 85 today. The younger masses were out making use of it. Today was Friday, so I was amazed to see that so many people don’t have jobs or school to attend. Why did I waste all my years working if it is so unnecessary? LOL.

I watched all the people swimming and all the girls digging their bikinis out of their asses. The water of Barton Springs is very cold, even in the height of summer, so it was also amazing to see people in the water. Oh, well. Enjoy it if you can. If I had my speedos I would have gotten a little sun.

It was starting to get late, and I had 100 miles to drive to get back home. It was nearing 4:00, so rush hours would be engaging soon. I went back to my car and very slowly drove home, where it felt good to get naked and take a shower.

It was a worthy trip and I enjoyed it very much. I have to push myself to get out and explore. It’s so hard to get motivated to go alone, so it takes all my effort. I’m usually glad afterward. Next time, you should go with me.
