Long Lost Memories

HI, Hows everyone
I hope all are fine. Well this is the last post in the sries of four, each dvoted to one year of engineering. I know I am late but just wanted to keep on building the excitement.. :)) so here it is...

After the sixth sem exams we had a long vacation. So I decide to take advantage of it and head to Rajasthan for a well deserved break. For those who havent been there- its worth visiting man !! Especially Jaisalmer...it is damn too beautiful.. I enjoyed every moment of it ans the food out there is amazing.

After coming from Rajasthan we had our placements. The first comapny that came was TCS. All went well till the HR interview. I did well in all tests and Tech interview but was rejected in HR interview at 10.30 pm in the night and there was Infy coming next day morning. here too the same story repeated and I was rejected in hte interview stage. I was shattered after this and decided to not sit for any company hence forth. After a 5 day break there came Amdocs with the highest pay...I had not even heard the name of this company before and when i saw the mail of our placement incharge I just thought I wouldnt qualify. But I did some basic prep and thanks to Hari (for Unix) I managed to get through it. And I was back to normal. But all my friend were either in TCS or Infy so I kept cribbing bout it.

After the placement mess it was time for me to concentrate on my main goal : securing a good GRE score. So I started preparation and did not attend College for entire July and till August mid. Also on July 27 our 6 sem results were declared. I went to college that day with choclates and to my astonishment not even a single soul remebered my Bday. So I just put the choclated in my bag and departed for home early. In the evening when results came out I had calls galore, all asking for their marks since I stayed very close to college. But no one wished me.

The hardwork for GRE really didnt pay much to be frank. I managed to get only 1340 after securing 1400 and above in the practise tests. I guess, I might be getting nervous at crucial stages and blowing it all off. But now it didnt matter I had the score and would have to stay with it. So with this score I started with the application process.

This was the most painful task. I learnt that being seedha saadha doesnt help. I went to buy letter heads for my transcripts and the admin officer of our college snubbed me and said take one copy and send xeroxes to all univs. So I had to goto the peon after college hours and pay him for the letter heads.... whoever said honesty is the Best Policy... was .....

Then to get these signed and get reco letters and marks sheets attested was really a pain..... I still remebering going to college before my exams and sitting there for 4-5 hours just to get one signature. For IP we had 4 holidays and I started on the last day coz the first three days were spent at the college. So as you sow so shall you reap, as I had not studied that much the entire sem I did not get good marks.

But the Sem 8 of Engg was the best. I visited college regularly and I had the highest attendance in this Sem. Also the project lab was like our second home. Till this sem I used to go home early and enjoy. But in this sem I stayed back in college till late 8 sometimes 9. In the bang middle of the sem we had our Goa trip. Most the class went for it and some guys stayed back. Too bad for u people. Goa was fun to the brink. We did Jet Skiing, Paara Gliding, Banana Split...amit almost drowned me while doing it. Also the one moment I cant forget is the one at Baaga Beach at night 2 am. We were just having a casual chat and Suru was telling our ghost stories and in the middle Jayesh removed the voice of a Cat and Kalpana was so scared that almost leapt into Dineshs' lap. That was fun.. good timing by Jayesh. There are many things that are unforgettable bout the trip....and now come to think of it I had intially planned to ditch my friends and not go for it.... what a fool I must have been.

We never studied that much in this Sem. Most of the guys had been placed, some like me were getting decent admits from US univs and others were busy for their MBS inteviews. Basically, Actually were the words that were in vogue coz of our Prof. Jaggu. We even counted these words during the lecture. BE was fun and rocking. I wouldnt mind replaying this one year again and again in my life.

We got a good PL for Sem 8. But even though I had no botherations this Sem I did not study. Visiting the college and doing tp with Amma and Suhas , Shalig and others was the forte. After the exams also we had fun and went for movies and basically enjoyed.

Some poor chaps had to join their resp company 2-3 days after exams and I had to prepare for my US Visa.

Hey BE Comps straight from the heart : "Keep in touch everyone". My US cell number is: 001-309-825-5254. I know 3 rupees/min is expensive (is it really ?) but do call sometime. My cell is raring to get calls from India. Missing you people a lot. BE comps rocks.

By the end of fourth year I had friends for life. Some of them are Hari, Rahul, Amit, Aadi, Dinesh, Ravi, Reshma, Suhas, Pooja, Harsh.

So this was BE = B***ls to Engineering as we call it.
Till then adios. Please do keep in touch BE comps. ([email protected])
