Nappy Rash

My baby got a really bad Nappy rash less than 5 weeks into his life, and it would not go away. It seemed to be getting worse and worse. I started talking to other moms and they gave me some advice.

The first thing you should do is to find out what is causing the rash. I found that if it is in between the baby’s legs, it is most likely caused by the nappy rubbing against his skin. If it is on his bum he has probably been sitting in his poo for too long. In all cases of Nappy Rash I found that both Fuller’s Earth powder and Fissan Paste helped a lot.

If the rash is caused by the nappy then try to keep the nappy off as much as you can. This is difficult because babies tend to wee everywhere, so put a towel under him/her, if it is a boy put a towel over his willy to avoid fountains.

When the nappy rash is on his bum, then obviously change his nappy more often. But I found that just changing his nappy more often made it go away slowly so I also washed his bum at each change, I noticed a difference the next day.

I applied fissan paste or fullers earth at each change.

I hope this advice helps

A very good home remedy for nappy rash is mixing cornflour and rooibos tea. You notice a difference by the next nappy change.
