Eating in Pregnancy

Eating while you are pregnant isn’t much different from eating when you aren’t pregnant. But you will find that if you go according to some of the advice you get on  your diet, you will end up with Food that is very unappealing. I believe you should eat what you enjoy (that isn’t too unhealthy) because if you restrict yourself to a very unappealing diet you will be more tempted to go on a huge eating binge. Just make sure you get the basic nutrients in your core diet.

Try to cut out on foods that make you feel sick, ie very fatty foods or Heavily Spiced Foods. Heavily spiced foods will probably give you heart burn. If possible try to stay away from processed food, these foods are harder to digest and often lack fibre which can cause constipation. Try to buy fresh products, it is very important for you to wash everything well before you eat it.

These are the foods that are dangerous and important to stay away from: Liver, Unpasteurized dairy produce (soft cheeses), pre-prepared meals (especially chicken and seafood), Undercooked meat (especially pork), Undercooked eggs and poultry. These foods can cause Listeriosis, Toxoplasmosis and salmonella.

Increase your fluid intake while pregnant.
