here comes the sun

I'd just like to make a quick public service announcment.

There were six people who made comments to me about an accessory item i chose to wear today.

Five of them were awesome comments. One person told me that said accessory was really stylish and cool. Another told me they made me look very sophisticated and posh. Another told me they were really fun and summery. Yet another told me i looked 21 wearing them. And the last one told me they were just really hip /they made me look like i was enjoying life. Awesome things to hear from people! How fun.

Except the first comment i heard of the day in regards to the accessory was negative and in fact very, very rude. Not only was i immediatly stereotyped for wearing the accessory, i was also told that i adopted a new persona just because i was wearing said accessory. if you don't think this is obnoxious, no big deal, but honestly, i don't go around critizing other people for what they wear and how they wear it. i can have opinions about things like ugg boots and croped jackets but i dont walk around telling people that their clothing/accessory choice makes them immediatly assocaited with "bitchy, popular people".

So here is a lesson in life. If you're going to comment about an accesorry or anything else that someone is wearing, fine, do it and enjoy. If this comment is self-esteem boosting and really positive, tell a lot of people and make the receiver happy for a few extra moments in their day. If the comment you're going to make is obnoxious, rude, and potentially offensive, don't make it, at least to said person's face. If you choose to make a negative comment that is really mean to the person wearing or doing something, you honestly become "the bitchy, popular" one. Enjoy that persona all to your liking......
