A World without Wires and Restrictions

...but a lot of frustration. HAH! My net connection has been a lot of hit and miss, on again off again, maybe it's here maybe it's not as I try to make my way into the wireless world away from Dialup. The guy who is getting me setup is great though and it's not his fault, he owns his own WISP and has been more than patient.

We're trying to brute force a signal over varying terrain, or rolling hills, and through about 30 big redwoods to the roof of my house at 2.4 GHz. I know it can be done, I've seen it. I'm not really in a forest just one small forest of trees like I said about 30 or less. I wish he was also running 900 Mhz and all this would be a nil subject I think but... In fact I am surprised anyone would run 2.4 GHz in the wild plains and rolling hills of Wyoming. It would seem to me that the lower 900 Mhz area would be much better, and less clogged these days.

Just as my luck would have it I happen to be in that one spot in that one area to where I am the only person who has trouble getting the signal. I'm also about 1.5 miles from a neighborhood teeming with DSL service. Last I knew the fiber was running to the switch about a 1 and 1/2 miles from my house but it was copper from there to here and there was no T-1. Apparently the T-1 is in, but it's still copper to my house. Like I said just my luck.

Cable is not an option either as I am too far away. At least the phone line is already here, the nearest cable is some distance further away, so the likely hood of that is even more remote. Satellite is not an option for it's dismal pings and dismal uploads which are really just dialup upstream.... ugh. So other than connecting at 26.4k for the rest of my days or moving, this WISP is my only hope so I will push ever on and keep you all informed.

OH!
New graffiti pix coming very soon, I'm almost done collecting this months contributions.
