Features that are enabled with Unified Communication and Unified Messaging Integration

  • Auto-Attendant – callers can now interact, via touch tone commands or voice recognition, with an automated attendant when leaving dialing an extension or voicemail.
  • Integration with an Active Directory – since UM (Unified Messaging) and other servers make use of an active directory, users are able to manage these environments from different consoles.
  • Integration with Multiple PBX (Private Branch eXchange) – an Exchange UM server will be able to support and integrate with different types of TDM (Time Division Multiplexing), PBX systems and VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). Companies that are utilizing a TDM PBX system will definitely be using a media gateway which is the same device that is used with a UC (Unified Communication) solution and Exchange UM. This help in saving the cost of purchasing another gateway device.
  • Multiple Locations – support of multiple locations is possible with the use of a single Exchange Server. This eliminates the need to setup several UM (Unified Messaging) servers for every site. Enabling this feature will allow companies to have the option of setting up and centralizing multiple voicemails on different PBX phone systems on a single site.
  • Outlook Voice Access – users can access Exchange mailbox with the use of a communication client or a standard telephone. By taking advantage of touch tone commands or IVR (Interactive Voice Response) menus a user can: dial contacts, listen to voice transcribed messages/voicemail or manage a calendar.
  • Options for Self Service – any users can reset or configure, from within Outlook, their PIN (Personal Identification Number) or customize other features such as greetings.
  • Voicemail Access – enables voicemail access from within Outlook and other Outlook applications (Mobile, Voice Access and Web Access).
  • Voicemail on Phone – a user can access voicemail messages with the use of a mobile phone, pay phone or a standard telephone.
