Car Sickness is prevalent among all age groups and it needs to be attended to make sure your outing remains a pleasant one. • Prefer night travel. It is agreed that the movements will be less noticeable during nights and hence it should be preferred as the eyes cannot see things in their entirety and so would not send conflicting signals to the central nervous system thereby reducing the chance for symptoms to appear.
• Try driving yourself. As a driver, you tend to concentrate more on the driving than on thinking a great deal about motion sickness and hence drivers are often better positioned to combat feeling sick when being in a car.
• Don't think of being sick. Thinking of sickness only spurts your anxiety levels and surely the symptoms grow rampantly. Don't be preoccupied of feeling sick and try and engage people around you in talking or doing some activity that takes your mind off it.
• Applying Ice Packs. Ice packs or anything cold would subside the symptoms of motions sickness specially when applied to eyes or neck. When you stop for a while you might as well try to immerse your feet in cold water. This provides relief and weakens the feeling of nausea.
• See a doctor. Prior to long journeys, it is advisable to consult a doctor if you feel motion sickness would worry you. The doctor would address your needs in a customized manner and help you with suggestions to overcome motion sickness.
