Some Summer Planning


This week we've been doing some summer planning.  I made a calendar for my 9 and 5 year old and gave them a summer notebook so we could kick off summer right.  The calendar has big spaces to fill in activities for Monday - Friday (June 4 to August 24).  Weekend stuff that includes dad will be on the normal fridge calendar.  I put the kids' calendar at their level so they can write on it and get excited to see the fun plans that are getting closer.

Mark It On Your Calendar ideas:

** celebrate a few wacky holidays each month-- such as National Doughnut Day (first Friday in June) and National Ice Cream Day (7/15/12)

** Free entrance to National Parks on National Get Outdoors Day (6/9/12)

** Great American Backyard Campout (6/23/12)

** London 2012 Summer Olympics (July 27 - August 12)

** Perseids Meteor Shower (mid August)


Summer Activity ideas:

** listen to audio stories outside on a blanket on the grass

** play Minute to Win it Games

** classic fun is always cool

** get outside and explore nature

** stay inside and play paper dolls and paper city
