This time, in Key West, we lived outside in the tiki hut that was part of our RV site. We ate almost all our meals outside. Started our day with a cup of coffee by the water watching the sun rise and ended our day with a cognac watching the sun set. We had internet so after a couple of really relaxing days I caught up on a lot of email, comments on the blog, etc. But then I read a book by the water.
Some days we would head out to see something, usually back by lunch to enjoy the rest of the day in our tiki lounge. Pure heaven.
We visited our 19th national park of the year on Monday, Dry Tortugas National Park. It is an island (or a small chain of islands actually) 75-miles from Key West. There are only a few ways to get there, the most affordable (if you can call $175 a person affordable – I don’t) being a ferry operating on behalf of the National Park Service. Your other options are flying or chartering a boat. Anyways, it’s an all day trip and a very interesting place to visit, blog post in the future.
We left paradise yesterday. It will take us eight days to get to the Las Cruces area where we will spend a week. Yesterday was Miami where we resupplied for the remaining road days: Tampa today, Tallahassee tomorrow, Mobile, Houston, San Antonio (we are staying two days here), Fort Stockton, Elephant Butte (Las Cruces area).
Road days are tough, that many in a row….well, let’s just say I will be happy when we get to New Mexico.
Current location:
Bluewater Key RV Resort, Key West, Florida, until Thursday.
Miami Everglades RV Resort, Miami, Florida, Friday.
That was my week, how about yours?
