Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {28th April 2017}….

1) After the success I had with dying my eyelashes at home I thought I’d try waxing my eyebrows myself with a kit from Boots that cost me £2.69 .  They’re weren’t as sticky as I expected and it took me the whole pack to get my eyebrows looking like I wanted them to as I had to keep re-doing bits but I did manage to get them done using the pack and it was a lot easier than I expected so I would get them again in future.

You can find them in the section with the make up brushes and fake nails if you want to have a try yourself.  They’re far from HD quality but to be fair they cost so much less that I can live with the difference.

2) I had some avocado in the fridge that needed using up so I chopped it into teeny pieces, added some chopped tomato and red onion and some chopped chilli from the freezer along with a squeeze of lime juice and made some salsa.

It’s delicious and amazing on a ham sandwich!

3) I couldn’t find my potato peeler this week so I peeled my potatoes with a vegetable knife instead which meant that the skins were a little chunkier than normal.  Rather than waste them, I popped them in a baking dish with a little olive oil and some salt and pepper and I baked them in the oven until they were crispy.

They were so delicious that I think we enjoyed them more than we enjoyed the mash we made!

4) Remember that git box I made by up-cycling an empty ice cream tub?  I used it for a little while as a storage box for my nail varnishes but this week Miss Frugal is using it as a gift box to put a present that she’s bought one of her friends in.  It’s not her friends Birthday until tomorrow so I’m not allowed to show you it with the gift in but it does look fab and much nicer than a gift box you can buy.

5) After a stressful weekend last weekend, we got to about 7pm on Sunday night without having any tea (the kids were sorted, just me and Mr Frugal who hadn’t had chance to sit down to tea) so we decided to escape for a while and go out for a meal.  I quickly logged in to my Tesco Clubcard account and swapped £10 worth of Clubcard points for £40 worth of vouchers for Chef and Brewer and we popped along to our local one which is in a really pretty area and it’s a gorgeous little country style pub that serves amazing food.  The vouchers say they can take up to two hours but they’ve always come through in less than 10 minutes when I’ve ordered them so within 15 minutes of deciding to go we were all ready with our vouchers printed out.

I had a starter of bubble and squeak topped with crispy prosciutto, poached egg and hollandaise sauce and a main course of sea bass fillets with seared scallops on a bed of pea and prawn risotto and it was amazing.  It was even more amazing when we paid the bill and it was less than £5 for us to actually pay.  I’m trying to save the rest of my Tesco points for the Summer as they’re worth 4 times the amount for days out.

As always, we’d love you to join in with us by sharing what frugal and thrifty things you’ve been up to this week – whether it’s an Instagram picture (#5frugalthings), a blog post or even a video.  Just add your link to the linky at the bottom of this post.

You don’t have to share five things you’ve done, anything thrifty or frugal that you’ve been doing is perfect.

You’re more than welcome to copy and paste the badge above but it would be even better if you could let your readers know that you’re linking up with us by adding a little line to the bottom of your post like this one:
